Literacy

In Autumn 1 we will be focusing on settling children into school and making sure they are happy and able to follow the class routines.

We will be using stories to learn new vocabulary about parts of the body and clothes.  Our main books will be Super Duper You and You'll soon grow into them, Titch!

 We will also be learning about Autumn and looking for signs of Autumn on a walk to the Ponderosa. We also have a whole school celebration in our Harvest Breakfast.

In Autumn 2 we will be using stories to learn new vocabulary about homes and houses. We will then move on to the traditional tale The Little Red Hen.

We will also be learning about the  how people celebrate, looking at the similarities between different festivals celebrated around the world.  We will be focusing on Diwali and Christmas, using books, role-play, craft and cooking to explore the different religious and cultural traditions.
