What have we been up to?
In May and June we got up to lots of exciting things! Please keep reading to find out all about them!
WonderDome
In May we had a mobile planetarium come into school to teach the children in Y5/Y6 all about the wonders of space!
The children were really enthusiastic whilst listening to the WonderDome Presenter tell them all about different astronauts who have been to space.
Well done Y5/Y6 you represented Netherthorpe Primary School really well.
Y5 Artist Visit Ellie Blackburn - Know your place
Y5 were visited by a poet and storyteller, Ellie Blackburn. Using our History Topic of Sheffield Castle as inspiration, the children wrote stories, imaging they woke up one morning in the 13th century, in Sheffield Castle. They also drew pictures of the castle or characters from their stories. They then recorded themselves telling their own stories.
These recordings will be on display via QR code at the Know Your Place exhibition at Central Library, Sheffield, from July 5th until August 8th. QR codes will be sent out via School Spider.
Goodwin Sports Centre
Our Year 4 and Year 5 Classes took part in a Sports Day at Goodwin Sports Centre last month and had so much fun. They took part in lots of different sports from Cheerleading to Basketball. All the children got involved and learnt lots of new skills!
FS2 Emergency Services Trip
Last month our FS2 class visited the Emergency Services Museum and they had an amazing time!
They were able to look around the museum as well get dressed up as all different emergency service providers.
Mini Olympics Y1
In June Year 1 took part in a sporting event at the EIS. They got involved with lots of different activities such as hockey, running, throwing and catching and lots more.
They all had so much fun!
