What have we been up to?
April 2025
Even though April was a short month for us we made sure it was packed full of exciting things for the children to take part in. Keep reading to find out what we got up to!
Animal Club
On Wednesday 30th April 2025 we had the Animal Club come into school to do a workshop with FS1,FS2, Greenhouse, Y1 and Y2. The children had a chance to look at and/or hold a tortoise, a bearded dragon, a rabbit, a python and lots of different insects. All of the children seemed to really enjoy the workshop and the few that were a little unsure were really brave and got stuck in. Well done EYFS and KS1 you did amazingly!
Y1 - Y6 Science work shops
On Friday 25th April our children in years 1 - 6 attended science workshops in the Sports Hall. All the children thoroughly enjoyed these workshops, they learnt about liquids and gasses, forces and lots of other interesting things! They got involved and seemed really interested in the workshops.
Y5 Quartet Rehearsal
Our Y5 class along with another school are taking part in a quartet in June. We had a practice run in April which went amazingly.
Y5 showcased everything they have been learning in their weekly violin lessons and tried their very best. They showed the other school how well Netherthorpe Primary School can perform.
Well done Y5!
Rock climbing
On Tuesday 8th April, School took a group of 24 children climbing at the Foundry Climbing Centre in Kelham Island. Parents accompanied their children and a splendid time was had by all. Most of the group had never been climbing before but everyone tackled the climbing walls without hesitation or fear, climbing with great dexterity and tremendous skill. One of our older children was so enthusiastic that they nearly climbed through the roof (approximately 30 metres from ground level!). The children were looked after by the marvellous climbing instructors from the Foundry and when hands and limbs could climb no more, the Netherthorpe Expedition Party walked back to the Ponderosa Cafe who kindly provided lunch and refreshments to the intrepid (and hungry) climbers. A big thankyou to Karl at the Foundry for organising the event and to the Ponderosa Cafe who worked so hard to make it a perfect ending to a perfect day.
