Communication and Language
We feel that it is vital that the children quickly learn how to express themselves and be able to communicate effectively with each other. Therefore, our curriculum focuses on learning new, useful words and speaking in full sentences. We use visuals and actions to help children to learn new words and give them lots of opportunites to practice their developing vocabulary and gain confidence to become good communicators.
Each week the activities, enhancements and resources will be based on a specific theme to encourage the children to practise their newly acquired vocabulary.
The children will also experiment with sounds in the environment. They will begin to develop a repertoire of songs and rhymes and begin to join in with familiar stories. The children will have the opportunity to give meaning to the marks they make.
Children will also take part in weekly "rainbow talk" sessions which will help develop children's vocabularly, sentence structure and grammar as well as encouraging children to explore unfamiliar and exciting things!
