Year 1 World Book Day

We really enjoyed dressing up on World Book Day this year! Have a look at the photos in the flies.

We read this book: The Worrysaurus by Rachel Bright.

In this book the little dinosaur packs for an exciting adventure but along the way he begins to worry about what might go wrong.  Everything turns out well in the end, though!  We discussed with our Year Ones the emotions and feelings covered in the story and linked these with the work we have done in class around the Zones of Regulation.  At the end of our World Book Day our children worked together to complete butterfly collages containing the colours linked to the feelings experienced by the little dinosaur.  We chose a butterfly because in the book the little dinosaur describes his worries as feeling like butterflies in his tummy.  If you come into school, please look out for these collages on one of our school display boards near to the Y1 classroom.
